Peony 'Buckeye Belle' – Bare Root
Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle' is a magnificent perennial peony, cherished for its early and deeply dark red blooms. The semi-double flowers feature large, velvety outer petals that frame a glowing center of golden-yellow stamens and red filaments, a color combination that creates a dramatic and elegant presence in the garden.
The foliage is dark green with slightly reddish stems, enhancing the rich bloom color. Its compact growth habit and vigorous performance make this variety ideal for borders and smaller garden spaces. ‘Buckeye Belle’ is highly regarded among collectors and peony enthusiasts, known for its strength and reliable flowering year after year.
Flowering period: May–June
Height: approx. 70 cm
Hardiness: Zone 4 (5)
Growing conditions: Sun to partial shade
Size: 3–5 eyes
If you can't plant it now, place the tuber in a plastic pot. The soil should be slightly moist, but no watering during winter. Place the pot outdoors by a wall under cover, or in an unheated shed/storage. In April-May, the peony can be planted in the garden.
Autumn planting: Dig a hole at least 50 cm deep and wide. Mix compost or rose soil with existing soil and add Zetas bulb fertilizer. Place the root at an angle with the buds facing up and cover with about 5 cm of soil. Water thoroughly.
