Peony (Itoh) 'Magical Mystery Tour' – Bare Root
Paeonia Itoh 'Magical Mystery Tour' produces semi-double flowers that resemble roses. The color transforms as the bloom develops, shifting from pinkish-orange-red to a soft vanilla yellow with lavender-pink edges.
Plant the root so that the buds/eyes are positioned about 5 cm below the soil surface. The soil should be light and slightly clay-rich.
Combine with spring bulbs, catmint (Nepeta), and garden phlox (Phlox paniculata) for a long-lasting flowering display.
Flowering period: July
Height: 90 cm
Fragrance: Mild scent
Growing conditions: Sun to partial shade
Plant spacing: 100 cm
Size: 3–5 eyes
If you can't plant it now, place the tuber in a plastic pot. The soil should be slightly moist, but no watering during winter. Place the pot outdoors by a wall under cover, or in an unheated shed/storage. In April-May, the peony can be planted in the garden.
Autumn planting: Dig a hole at least 50 cm deep and wide. Mix compost or rose soil with existing soil and add Zetas bulb fertilizer. Place the root at an angle with the buds facing up and cover with about 5 cm of soil. Water thoroughly.
