We discovered this rarity at a small nursery in Holland and instantly fell in love. The grower, a man in large wooden clogs with a garden filled with hundreds of tulips and daffodils, told us it would take several years to propagate enough bulbs. We decided to wait, and after three years of patience we can finally offer a limited quantity of this magical variety.

Tulipa ‘Purple Rain’ (Crispa Zalm Bruin) is a unique fringed tulip with outer petals shimmering in deep purple-violet, edged with golden-yellow frills. Its dark plum-colored stems create a striking contrast, enhancing the dramatic beauty of the flower. It is particularly stunning alongside red-leaved plants such as copper beech and bugbane, or combined with other dark tulips like ‘Queen of Night’.
